Christmas 2011

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! I wanted to share a couple things I got from my family yesterday.

I got two vintage sewing patters and several needlework magazines. One sewing pattern looks 40s and the other from the 50s. I'll have to do more research and see if I can find the year. The magazines are mostly from the 60s. Here are a few patterns I liked.

The magazines and patterns came from two of my Aunts...do they know me or what? I had to add this last one as a laugh. A sexy mail order underwear ad!

Psychobilly Schedule

I've got my calendar marked for some up and coming shows at Reggie's and the Beat Kitchen!
First is Sweet Cobra at the Beat Kitchen on March 4th. I saw them play at the empty bottle and they were pretty good. Their drummer doesn't just hit the drums; he kills them as if they were a dead body trying to come back to life!
Next show is on March 12th. Its the Psychobilly Spring Fling! I haven't seen any of the bands on the bill but am always looking for new interests.
Koffin Kats are back at Reggie's on April 29th and it looks like they have a new line up. I've seen them a few times before and love their music. I like to listen to it when I run cause it makes me run fast and angry, lol.
Last on my list is the Krank Daddies opening for Calabrese also at Reggie's. I bought the Krank Daddies cd after seeing them play with the Koffin Kats and am glad I did. I've just gotten into Calabrese and look forward to seeing them for the first time in May. They're playing May 20th, the week of my birthday!

Inspiration

I have recently been reading the blog by Fleur de Guerre. She writes a blog titled Diary of a Vintage Girl. She has so many pictures of her in cute vintage outfits since shes a vintage inspired model. What a cool job? The links on her website include vintage clothing and lingerie. I'm wondering if she would be interested in a cute sweater??

Here's a link to her blog http://www.diaryofavintagegirl.com/

Rockabilly Vampire

In the mood for Halloween, my friend and I surfed for movies on Netflix and found Rockabilly Vampire. Couldn't have sounded cooler, but I went in knowing it could bad. It was a very low budget film but it was entertaining and had lots of rockabilly music. The rockabilly boys were dreamy, but I thought the girl could have had a cuter wardrobe.

I would watch this again but I think someone out there should remake this movie. With all the vampire fans out there now there could be a bigger budget to make this movie into a bigger hit. I can supply the rockabilly sweaters!

New Hat

The weather is getting colder and what better time to knit a new hat! I found these vintage patterns on Etsy!

I am thinking I will make the fedora first, how film noir!

Retro Style

Yesterday a girl at my work said she like my outfit. And here it was just something I had thrown together! I was surprised and flatter that when she said she had noticed my outfits before and I thought that was so sweet. It inspired me to dress up a little more today.

Today I am wearing a lime green pencil skirt that goes to mid calf. Since I am so short I had to skip my usual flats and wear heals. On top I'm just wearing a black polo. I'll try to take a picture of it to show off. Although its too warm to wear it all day I brought my most recently finished sweater along. I'll definitely add pictures of the sweater.

Finished!

I finished my vintage sweater girl pattern and love it! Its still drying at home right now or I would have worn it to work today. The picture below is a better pic in terms of showing the lace detail and true color. I hope that blocking will fix the sleeves from rolling up like they are in these pics.

I so want to order more yarn to start another vintage sweater pattern but know I should wait. Stitches Midwest 2009 is a little more than a week away and I can't wait! I already have plenty of patterns I want to use so this will mostly be a trip to look for yarn. I am looking for yarn for stockings and a hat from Romantic Hand Knits as well as yarn for some other vintage patterns. In the next few days I'll be planning what exactly I want to look for so I don't go buying to much unnecessary yarn!
