A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.....I was a Star Wars Geek. Recently I found some old Star Wars novels I had from high school in my parents attic. I'm in the middle of reading The Courtship of Princess Leia which is perfect because I am currently knitting a Pincess Leia hat for a co-worker.
I found this pattern on Ravelry and it quite easy to follow so far. I think I am going to make one for myself too. (The buns look like they would keep my ears warm in the winter!)

Simplicity 4298
My next project will be Simplicity 4298 #5. I used version #2 of this pattern before to make my tan dress with roses (see 60s weekend dress). It was easy to follow and I love the variety that came with this one pattern.
Although I'm still using a floral fabric its quite different than the other fabric I used. I loved the vintage look of the small roses but I don't usually wear such light colors. Most of my clothes are black and while I am trying to get away from that I still like dark colors. This new fabric has a little bit of both. Its a navy blue background with asian inspired flowers of all colors.
Now that I've been buying and creating vintage dresses I've notice many bright colors people wore in past decades compared to today. Even modern colored dresses tend to not be as bright as is decades past. Although I would like to add more colors I can't help but love wearing black sometimes.

Collared Red Dress
Here are pictures of my finished red dress from a vintage Simplicity pattern. Its a great dress to wear the office and I added a black scarf to give it a little more vintage flare. My friend saw me and asked if I was a stewardess, lol. I also included a picture of the nice button I found. It had a little anchor on it, how perfect for a vintage dress!

Cozies for Sale
I'd like to start selling hats by fall and winter of this year. My ultimate goal is to start a line of vintage inspired sweaters based off the 1940s sweater girls. Since this is a goal I've had for a long time but haven't hatched it yet I've deceided to start slow....with these cozies.

Date Night
Went out with my boyfriend this past week. We went to a cute little Italian place called Rose Angelis. Its located in Lincoln Park and used to be an old house. All the rooms have been painted with Italian scenes. The food is so good! My favorite is Mezzalune al Burro but this time I tried Tortellone Con Salsa di Noce. It was good but the cheese filled pasta and cream sauce was very rich. We had a few glasses of wine and left happy.
Here is what I wore, I was so excited to wear my crinoline under my polka dot full skirt. I also wore my 'Lilly Munster' bat necklace. Its not the best picture but I had to have this necklace when I saw it. It came from The Architectural Revolution on Clark Street.

Happy Mother's Day
Hope you're all enjoying the day with your Mom. Here is a picture of my maternal grandmother, Millie. I'm not sure how old she is in this picture but I think it shows how much I take after her. Most people say I look like my Mom but my Grandpa will always say I look like Millie. When I have a little girl I plan on naming her after Millie. Wishful thinking, hehe. Have you picked out an old family name for you future kids?

Sanibel Island, Florida
My friend had a BEAUTIFUL wedding on Sanibel Island at the Casa Ybel resort at the end of April. The weather was perfect the day of her wedding and so was the view from her room. The picture above is off of her balcony. She go married right out on the beach. Its hard to see from the picture but the beach is right out there behind me.
This picture is what I wore to the rehearsal. She gave all the girls in the wedding party matching flip flops with silver starfish. The dress is from H&M and I'm wearing it with vintage pearls and a floral headband from Charming Charlie's.
It was hard coming back to cold Chicago but its been getting warmer since I've returned. Below is a picture of a bird of paradise (my mom's favorite flower). On the last day we also saw an alligator! He was just hanging out in in a pond by the resort.
Now that I'm back its time to work on more knitting and sewing projects.
